The fourth annual Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS)
Web-Wise Conference will be held February 26-28, 2003 in Washington, D.C.
This year the conference will be co-hosted again by the
Johns Hopkins University
(JHU) and will be held at the Hyatt Regency Washington on Capitol Hill, in
Washington, D.C. The theme
of this year's conference is "Sustaining Digital
Resources."
IMLS has been funding digitization projects since 1998. Sessions will
highlight outstanding digital projects as well as discussions by experts on
issues in digital preservation and business models for sustainability.
Project demonstrations during the long 45-minute breaks between plenary
sessions will give participants an opportunity to see Web sites of
successful online projects and talk with project staff.
There is limited registration in order to facilitate discussion and
networking among participants. There is no registration fee; however,
participants will be responsible for their own travel and lodging
expenses. The Hyatt Regency Washington on Capitol Hill occupies a full
city block in
the heart of Capitol Hill, is 2 blocks from Union Station, and within
walking distance to national and cultural attractions, restaurants and
theaters.
The continental breakfasts will be provided on February 27 and 28 and
lunch will
be provided on February 27.
IMLS National Leadership Grant recipients are encouraged to attend the
Web-Wise conference. Grantees may charge travel expenses to their grants
if sufficient travel funds are available.
The 2003 Web-Wise conference is co-sponsored by the Institute of Museum
and Library Services and the Sheridan
Libraries at Johns Hopkins
University. The planning for the conference is being coordinated by
the Digital Knowledge Center.
